Taking Longer To Teach Now Than Before

Student "edition" found at [csi dot journalspace dot com].

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Mathematical Methods One class, Day Two, Week Six, Term One: I took up the properties of equations of a line, such as determining whether two lines are parallel and perpendicular, getting the distance between two points, and getting the midpoint between two points.

Besides that I also reviewed them on how to use these to be able to prove that several points given are the vertices of a trapezoid, a parallelogram, a rectangle, a square, or an equilateral, isosceles or right triangle, as well as getting the equations of diagonals and medians.

In fact that was the end of Chapter 4 for us. Looking at my quizzes from two terms ago, I am now caught up with the topics David and I used for the same period.

In Science Fiction Literature class afterwards, the discussion was on a “future fiction” text written by a Filipino, and how it related to the short story “Epaulettes” by Margaret Atwood.

Somehow the question was raised if “The Day After Tomorrow” could be considered science fiction, and I declined and said in my opinion it is just a disaster movie. There may have been some science fiction aspects in speculating how the civilization man has built could react to such runaway weather, but as to whether they are accurate remains to be seen.

I told them that a better example of a similar nature and which is definitely science fiction (although whether it is good is another question altogether) is “The Core”.

The reports of the five groups will start next week. I will definitely be showing up for all of them, as well as giving consultation to those who approach me for help.

On the next day, we had the second experiment in Introduction to Electricity and Magnetism laboratory.

There were some people who were surprised with the quiz in the first ten minutes, because it was already finished when they showed up late the previous meeting, and they were not told about it by their classmates.

Deiv showed up late, and wanted to submit his paper early, although I told them not to pass their quiz until the end of the ten minutes, because I did not want people going outside, consulting their lab manuals and warning any of those who may be showing up late.

For once there were four set ups, so there was also no merging of groups as some had expected. But I’ll continue this tale tomorrow.

I’m pressing the off switch on session 632. Class dismissed.
