2005-12-14 2:41 PM Final Two Regular Meetings for the Term Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. In the last meeting of my Interfacing Computer Systems class for the second term, they finally finished their last experiment. Surprisingly, this time around, it was the group that had been dragging behind in the last two experiments, that as I mentioned before we and the rest of the class had to guide on instead of allowing to straggle, who finished first. It’s a little sad to know that we weren’t able to reach analog to digital converters, and digital to analog converters, or even reach until the 8255 programmable interface. It does mean that I will be better prepared if I ever teach the subject again, and thus we will be able to go through the topics faster the next time the subject is offered and assigned to me. It also means that we will be able to cover more ground and hopefully reach analog to digital converters. Maybe the chips would have arrived by then, and the new engineering labs are operational and streamlined. In the last meeting of my mechanics lecture class, we had the practical exam. I had already warned them about the way the exam would be run, and just to be fair, I also had them draw for their timeslots instead of first come first served for the choicest spots (usually the middle or towards the end of the period) like the last time. Some students just traded in earlier slots for later slots to be in the same time frame as their friends. The lowest grade that someone got in the class was 55%, for the guy who went first and had no idea what to expect. Not bad. And that’s the luck of the draw. The highest was 110%, but that was mainly because the student got the experiment related to the topic of our last meeting in the lecture, conservation of mechanical energy. I will continue tomorrow about the students who tried to bargain for higher grades even though they got okay scores. Session 905 also draw the first time slot for the practical exam. Class dismissed.
