2006-03-25 4:08 PM Signs of the End - Of the Term Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. In the meeting of my general science requirement mechanics lab class for the eleventh week of the third term, we had their final experiment, which is Torque and Rotation. First of all, when I arrived in the lab room, I asked the students about the order in which they arrived in the room that day, which was the same order in which I had them sign the scheduling for their ten-minute practical exam on the next meeting. Next I had them answer their very last quiz, which was actually the first time to take the quiz for one student, who also didn’t fare very well since he only read the experiment (over the shoulders of his group mates) a few minutes before. Besides, having been early all this time, the other students already had an idea of what my questions would be. He didn’t. When they had borrowed the materials already, I first warned them to be careful with the special non-wooden meter sticks we were using for the experiment, which are somewhat fragile, and more expensive than the wooden ones in case they break them. I also had to give the masses they were supposed to place on either side of the “scale” since the procedure in the manual only gave it as “about 200 grams”. A few students who still continued their habit of leaving the room once the quiz was finished were not present during my explanation, and when they returned, they asked if, just like I permitted a few meetings before, they could perform in the same setup as another group. I didn’t agree because unlike last time, there were already two of them in the group present and not one like the situation before, even though these were definitely the two least industrious of the members. Besides, even for one last time, I wanted them to suffer through the consequences of their leaving the room without prior notice given to the teacher. Another student showed up late, never having taken a quiz in any of the experiments, and even asked to sign in the practical exam schedule, as if he can pass that at all not having been present in most of the experiments. Session 1053 is also flying blind. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
