Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Before I start talking about the classes for the eighth week of the first term, I would like to talk about a little incident that happened during the previous week. The registrar’s office posted the schedule for the student evaluations, and they class they set for me was my former Mathematical Methods One section, since they were probably working with an outdated copy of the teachers’ schedules from early in the term. For once taking the path of least resistance, I knew that if they did show up in that class they would realize their mistake, and reschedule me for one of my two other lecture classes, or maybe even my labs. That wasn’t what happened though. The registrar’s personnel showed up in the MATMET1 class and still pushed through with the evaluation for me in that class, following what the new teacher said about informing the students that they were rating me for their first three weeks of classes and not their current teacher, who would be evaluated at a later date, and maybe in one of the other classes she’s teaching. This is the first time it’s happened for me, that I was rated for only three weeks of teaching instead of seven as usually is the case, and when they could compare my methods with that of the new teacher handling the same lessons. It may or may not be unfair to me to be graded as such, but its too late now. I do hope the other teacher was rated in another class and not the same one. I’m also tempted to ask to be rated as well in my sophomore engineering students lecture class (Introduction to Electricity and Magnetism), which, although it isn’t the first time I’ve taught that subject, is still only the second lecture class I’m handling for that batch. For the engineering juniors, it’s already the fifth, I think, starting from Trigonometric Applications, Mechanics, Differential Equations, INELMAG, to Materials Science. Session 1209 was underrated. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
