As Usual, Still Not Standing of Solid Ground on the First Week of Classes

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

The computerized enrollment system we have really has to be overhauled.

This is not the first time that the dean has opened two sections of a certain lab subject because according to her records there are more than twenty students who can take a particular subject, when in fact a detailed analysis of the students’ records would show that around half of them cannot take that particular subject because of failures in the prerequisites.

This has happened once again in my Intermediate Robotics Lab, whose second section was originally assigned to another teacher. But due to another engineering part timer backing out, there was another shuffling of the teaching loads, giving me the second MEDROLA class.

Then, the second section was dissolved because there are less than twenty students enrolled in both total, so they can therefore be merged.

That would save a strain on the manpower (teachers, lab technician and janitors cleaning the rooms) and classroom (and laboratories) maintenance.

Besides, it really does facilitate teaching better when the instructor handling the lecture class is also handling the lab class with the same students.

I’ve also put in a request to move all my classes this term to the robotics lab, including the lectures. I’ve checked the schedules of the two laboratories and there are no conflicts. At the same time, I don’t have to go to those basement rooms (as I’ve mentioned in the student edition) where two of my lecture classes were previously assigned.

And speaking of the student edition, I mentioned there about the Executive Vice President handling one class. Some of the teachers and I are going to be studying the students in that class and see if there will be any change in their behavior, attendance and class performance.

Will they think that if they show up late too often, the EVP will suddenly change the school policy on attendance?

Session 1305 will strive more. Class dismissed.
