Mood: More Efficient with This than My Own Class? Read/Post Comments (0) |

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Thankfully the Executive Vice President is now back from his trip to Indonesia last week. I only collected the schedules of his students during their first meeting last week, and it wasn't until a couple of days later when the college secretary told me that she had received an email from the E V P asking me what was the most convenient time for their make up class. I also told the students on the first day that their real teacher will be out for the entire week, yet they still showed up on the second meeting for the week. The secretary then called me over from inside the faculty room to tell me to meet the class again, and to tell them about their make up schedule. So I collated all of the schedules that they gave (including for three students who were not present during the first day) and told them that I would post the most convenient time for their make up on the bulletin boards. Unfortunately, this is a class that is supposed to be for second year computer science majors, but includes some third and fourth year students who left the subject behind after failing it the first time (it is, after all, the end of a “line” on their flowchart), some fourth year students from engineering who also shifted, a couple of students who transferred from another school, and several irregular sophomores. This created that from Monday to Saturday, there was no class schedule for which all of them were free, except for six to seven thirty in the evenings. So to facilitate the job for the E V P, who will be making the final decision anyway as to their make up sessions, I also highlighted in the list (which I made on a spreadsheet) the times wherein only one or two of the students – either an irregular student, a shifter or a transferee – was the only one unavailable. That way, it would not be so difficult for those who cannot make the class to just photocopy the notes of any of the majority who will attend. As if the E V P will condone choosing the make up class over the regular session, or sign an excuse letter to that effect. Session 1315 may skip both conflicted classes. Class dismissed.
