2006-12-22 8:48 AM Is Christmas About Beginnings and Endings, or Ongoing Cheers? Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Last few academic concerns for this year: there's apparently this part-time engineering teacher who, since the lecture and lab grades were merged, had taken it upon herself to tell her upperclassmen students that they really had to get a passing grade in the lecture first to get a passing grade in both, and that the lab grade just boosts the final grade up, instead of helping to pass. She believes that the theory studied in the lecture class has to be fully comprehended first instead of being part concept part practice that allows a student to take up the next advanced course. I don't know if this is what the Executive Vice President had in mind when he implemented this policy on technical subjects. Next, the registrar's office still has that policy of not letting the higher ID numbers enroll before the day their are supposed to, as well still enforcing subjects that are earmarked for specific batches so that younger students can't enroll in subjects for older levels, even for transferees who, although they have high ID numbers, are supposed to be the same rank as the upperclassmen in terms of subjects taken. At least most of the students are now following the rules on what days they are supposed to enroll, although I don't know if the regular subjects are still being followed such that no student who is deemed regular and who enrolls on time can be closed out on a subject that is offered specifically for their block. I know that wasn't followed at least once before. I also don't know if it's a good thing the student to whom that happened to eventually took an extended leave of absence, and was not hampered from graduating on time along with his batchmates. I'd like to end this post (and this year) on a high note, but there isn't any spectacular news for the next term I can think of right now, except for the impending student council elections for next school year and the engineering week celebration, both of which I think I've mentioned here before and are just regular occurences instead of anything special. Well, there is that Integrated School boy scout stargazing (badge test?) during the first two weeks of January to look forward to. And with that the very fulfilling term and the unforgettable year ends. Session 1459 closes the door and hangs the wreath. Class dismissed.
