Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Well, I passed a certain student in my subject/s, just to avoid being his main target if ever he goes ballistic, but that doesn't mean he has no failures for this term. Based on the printout from one of my co-teachers that I saw on the bank of public computers we have in the faculty room, he failed in Data Structures and Algorithms, which is a required subject for those in the Computer Engineering program. As far as I know though it doesn't have any consequence in making him drop any of the subjects he has in his advanced enlistment form, and adding new ones. And since he didn't show up for adjustment, that means that he won't be taking that subject in the coming term. In his class of Advanced Mechanics, of which this is his second take, he finally passed. That doesn't mean there wasn't a problem though. As it turns out, when the teacher was trying to encode his grades, his name wasn't in the list. Checking with the registrar's office, it turns out that the student didn't enroll in that subject. Now, it's the student's watch to see if all the subjects he is supposed to take is in his assessment, not the registrar personnel's, who, after all, have hundreds of such class lists to process. So, in the end, even with his mother coming over to clarify the matter, it still cannot be disputed to have been his fault. In other cases, if the student has put up sufficient effort in the class to be given much consideration by the teacher, usually the teacher says “you can enroll this subject again next term, but you don't have to go to class, and I'll just write down your grade from this term.” In this case though, the teacher, having already failed that student once, would not want to give him that benefit. As far as I can tell, the student isn't enrolling that subject again this new term. After all, it's only the second to the last in a series that ends with Mechanics 4: Strength of Materials. I'm also not sure if the mother was able to convince the registrar's office to credit the student's grade. But basically, because of his freshman mistake when he's already a senior, this could count as two failures for him this term. Session 1603 basically still hasn't learned anything about adapting. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
