Undeserving People In Positions

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Next concern, related to the last one actually, was about the student leaders who attended the workshop.

One of the major deviations from the student organizations of other schools and this one, is that passing on of positions is either by appointment or by volunteering or both.

During our meeting before the end of the school year about whether or not we were going to screen the participants again, the final decision was that we would not, but that we would only accept the presidents and vice presidents of the organization in the seminar. If the intended president could not make it – could not be called upon to be dedicated enough to take tome away from their vacation to work for the position – then they do not deserve the post.

So there were some groups who, even though they had given their list of officers before the end of the term, due to sudden vacation plans of their family, had to scramble to find other students who would take their place just to ensure the continuity of their organization when it comes to re-accreditation time.

In fact, because of the impromptu nature of these switches, there was one organization that had absolutely no representation in the seminar, because the parents of their last resort candidates did not allow them to join because the decision was “too sudden”.

So the director does not know what to do with them. On one hand it would be unfair to allow them to continue when they were not able to field representatives like the other organizations. On the other hand, it's also putting the efforts of two previous generations to waste to force the organization to turn to dust.

After all, it's not for lack of members that the group fails, just one important instance.

Should they be asked to go through the entire process of accreditation all over again?

Or should their efforts be instead redirected to the newly formed school or course assemblies?

There was also the case of some last minute replacements being not so serious about their positions, thinking of the entire thing as one big vacation instead of work.

We're thinking of either re-instituting the screenings, or allowing the Election Commission to handle all of the student organization process of passing the thrones.

Session 1617 thinks that being a high ranking officer of a student organization is no big deal. Class dismissed.
