2007-09-11 1:27 PM The Students Are Silent Due to Indifference? Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. He's doing it again. My when-it's-only-convenient-for-me co-teacher has told his students that he will be moving their Monday 8am class to the afternoon because, he says, it's too early. Yeah, that's really the kind of attitude we want our graduates to bring to their jobs and impress their employers. I hope the director of the school of engineering - who last term has seen fit to strip him of his Electronics and Communications Engineering coordinatorship because he really wasn't doing anything in exchange for his deloading - denies his request. This is especially if he gives the reason that it's the students who requested it, which is patently not true. I have already written in the student accessible version how the administration will know from the petition letter whether it is really the students who asked for the change of schedule. There are a lot of anomalies between what the administration says the teachers should be doing and what the students are actually getting, and the dean's office can learn about them all if they just find the time to talk to the students. The alternative is to make it worth the students' while to complain about their teachers, giving the Student Council access to the dean's ears via a Grievance Committee, for example. @@ During the surprise fire drill this morning, it was very disappointing to see that while we - from the third floor east wing - were already crossing the quadrangle to the covered courts, that there were still college students on the fourth floor who were just coming out of their classrooms and leaning over the railing looking at where the simulated blaze was coming from, instead of heading for the stairs. If the local fire department determines that our responsiveness is not good enough (evacuation time wise) then there will be a second required unannounced fire drill set. Session 1807 needs threats of extra work to perform well the first time. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
