Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

For some reason I am still not fully aware of, except for my erstwhile love for the badminton team shared with the sports director, I was made overall captain of the Dark Green team for this school year.

I saw the memo with all the list of games for the faculty and staff sports fest on my desk earlier this week, and my name above for the team.

There were three other captains before, one of whom already left employment.

The other one, last year's "model", was an all around player in different sports, but has a habit of irritating the other teams (particularly the females) with his overconfidence while cheering.

Besides that, I heard that since he got engaged or married recently, (not sure if it's one or the other, but definitely at least the first) he's had not time for extra-curricular activities.

Thankfully, I was able to pass off the duties to another co-teacher of mine, especially rounding up the basketball team players, with whom I have only a passing relationship off the courts, and none whatsover for in the courts - with hoops, that is. Am extra thankful that he agreed, despite being busy preparing for graduate studies abroad (see more below).

I said that I'd take care of the badminton team, and have someone else look after the volleyball team. See, I don't even go to these games (watch or play), why am I the team captain?

And I definitely do not want to be one of those people who asks for a meeting of all the team members just to decide who the new team captain would be. That's why I just approached this one guy.

Next problem is that he is also leaving in December (luckily after all the basketball games that have been scheduled) but that means they'll try to pin the position on me again next year.

But I'll wait to burn that bridge when I actually do get to it.

Session 1835 may know sports, but doesn't know the players. Class dismissed.
