Special Classes Take Their Toll on the Student

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Thank you again to Taerkitty for her comment to my most recent post.

It's my one day of classes for this week, following one day of class suspension due to the local government elections, and followed by two more days of no classes due to All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.

My first class today is Assembly Language programming again, which was the last class that I met on Friday of last week, but for one and a half hours instead of four and a half hours before.

After all the "threats" I gave the students before about introducing sixty-four bit number operations, they have seemed to realize that what they are discussing now is more difficult, and thus adding or multiplying those large numbers would be a breeze.

Tomorrow my co-teacher who was my student before in Computer Systems Organization (lecture and lab) will be giving her own lab class (which was passed on from me) their midterm exam.

I told her that since the students have only one common three hour bloc schedule for every week of the term, that that time was allotted for the lab, and thus it is assumed that the students would read about the chapter of the experiment topic before going to class. For the past weeks since the start of the term some of the students have been getting away with not reading the book chapters, only because they have more conscientious classmates who would read before the class and thus finish the experiment for their whole group.

Now that their individual knowledge would be tested, they either have to read up on all the chapters taken up so far for the exam, or just wing it.

I don't know yet if the exam they have will be open books or not like what I did to the Computer Architecture class, which have common students.

And instead of just taking questions from the latest chapter read, this will be taking one question from each of the chapters passed so far.

Session 1885 passes the group grade, but fails in the individual grade, so still fails. Class dismissed.
