2008-07-16 2:06 PM P/E/A: "I Was Elected, I Can Do No Wrong" Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. The college student council electee who had a formal complaint against her written and passed by her teacher who is also the leadership camp trainor said (according to the discipline officer) that she won't write an apology letter because she thinks she's right. Wow, talk about not looking at the long term consequences and bigger picture of her actions. I guess her head getting overinflated by her being elected has squeezed the skin around her eyes so she can only see a narrow perspective. And it's also stupid that the discipline appointee who talked to her was so ineffective that his next step is to have the teacher and the student talk to each other again, when is has already gone past that part (of possibly reaching an understanding) which was why the teacher lodged the formal complaint in the first place, to elevate the matter. But if the student isn't going to write her own account of the matter (which will at least move the case forward), then the disciplinary board will have to be called in, one member of which is the president of the student council. And as far as I can tell, all these people (myself included) are not going to award victory to a defiant student over one who has been tasked with molding future student leaders. This will most likely end in a precedent-setting impeachment of an elected officer who was more attention focused on herself for winning than in what she could do for the students, especially with the help of her fellow officers. I just want to do what I can to speed it along, not only because I consider part of my duty to give the students the best leaders that they can have serving them, but also because it would be a good reference to have in case someone else carries such a huge ego on their shoulders in the future and basking in their imagined power, only thinking of themselves. Session 2265 would probably just stare in disbelief faced with what this student has to say for herself in light of the witness account. Class dismissed.
