It's Easy to Criticize Someone Else's Job or Lack of It

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

We had a meeting yesterday for the academic advisers about the “new” policies for enrollment.

Talking to the president of the Student Council earlier, I realized that one of the things we did not talk about was the deadline for paying for pre-enrollment, which, not surprisingly, is the main concern of the diligent students.

But not getting ahead of my own story, the main thing that the teachers wanted was less work for them and more for the registrar's office, which begs the question why not just ask not to be given the job in the first place, if you're going to whine about it?

And as usual, slacker co-teacher wasn't all that serious about it, even stepping out the same time someone else did – of course talking about something not so reverently outside – then pointing to the other person when they got in, using a sing-song voice like a tattletale schoolboy, “Ms. has a question!”

Surprisingly also, he has already infected some of the other teachers with his laziness of not going to school on Saturdays and after the course card distribution schedule.

One suggestion given was that if the students don't go to their assigned schedule of pre-enrollment during the tenth week, that after the next term has started, to get the subjects they want they will have to go to each of the teachers in turn.

Although this would be a hassle for some, the correct prediction of some teachers is that for other students they would take advantage of this to avoid the professors they don't like without having to go through the hassle of adding and dropping.

The business office head also rejected the idea of increasing the late fee to four digits, because she did not want some parents to call her “un-Christian” again because of that.

At least slacker co-teacher freely admitted that just because a student was late for his advising, even though it was on the same day, he gave the (false) excuse that the computerized on-line enrollment had already been turned off. That way, it would not have been his fault but someone else's, although they would learn, hopefully.

Something I also don't think that I've mentioned before is that when the brother president was present in one of the meetings that discussed this, his main concern was to save the freshmen and the sophomores from the bad influence of the upperclassmen as to exploiting loopholes and dismissing the fears of the students that not all of their inactions and late actions have consequences

Session 2423 is looking for attitude of sacrifice for the betterment of policy. Class dismissed.
