2008-11-12 4:34 PM Someone Not Being Honest Enough About Really Wanting the Job? Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. There was a meeting for the engineering faculty earlier, where we had to vote for a representative to the revision committee of the faculty manual. Not surprisingly, because of how vocal he was about the benefits (but only around other faculty members, not with the administration) slacker co-teacher was voted, getting into a tie with me. This was even with a repeat of the voting, taking out the others who got fewer votes. He kept claiming seniority when I was pointing out that he was the one who had, from the start, been adamant about fighting for the benefits. In the end, it was settled by coin toss and his pick turned up, which according to the unwritten rules means he gets to choose (either to accept or decline, and of course he passed it on to me). I'm just surprised that he doesn't want the job, or if that's just false humility on his part not wanting to say he wants the job. There's still a part of me that is relieved he didn't get the job because he'd just cause more trouble for the faculty, but there's another part that wishes it was him so that he would finally exposed to them as the rabble rouser that he is. There's another part of me that will (for some time) keep looking at possible scenarios from the start if I had voted differently. @@ News about a certain student again: during my class in assembly language today he asked at the start if it was possible for the user to just type the number "1" to enter the weekday. I had to spell out for him that we were dealing with a programmer's choice of memory storage of data, not interface between the user and the program. In my eyes, at least, that shows that he was not really listening to the lecture but was just grasping at whatever small part he could understand. Session 2443 wants to make this student realize what he shows people makes them conclude about him. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
