Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Today's tale again involves a certain student. He has another class before my 1pm subject, which today happened to be in the lab. Before, due to this tight schedule, he used to be late in my class since he had to go out of campus to eat with his mother everytime. Today though was different. Because of a discussion in their class last time about food, he somehow has promised to bring some. The problem was that his mother or someone asked another school personnel, from the office of sports development of all places, that they probably just stopped in the ground floor when they were busy with their sports fest, to bring to the third floor classroom. And it wasn't an ordinary lunchbox. It was a TRAY, with dishes and paper plates and utensils. Why couldn't they have brought it up themselves? Because they don't want to see their child suffering ridicule from the classmate if they do show up? And this apparently is just the latest attempt of this student to be liked for what he really is, or what he himself likes. Besides showing other students the drawings and digital designs he made of robots and other military vehicles, he has also been seen hanging around with other students sitting in the hallway with their laptops, joining their discussion on graphics. Sadly this wrong perception that he is liked and not merely tolerated has overflowed to my class, just as the other students have said has happened to their classes. He has come up with suggestions only marginally related to the topic, and won't shut up even when I have already explained that it is out of the scope of our discussion. Before I used to tease the class that his suggestions will become their next exercise, but that seemed to only encourage him to speak up more. Session 2447 plans to threaten further class disruptions with deductions just to see how well that will work. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
