Some People Would Be In Hell If They Didn't Have Anything to Whine About

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Little things going awry in campus again that adds to an overall subliminal feeling that All Is Not Well.

The payroll for last December 12 was 3 hours late, for those who expected it to be in by 9am, and 21 hours late for those who expected they could withdraw it 3pm the previous banking day.

Not that I’m bothered by it, only those who stretch their money until the last day of the pay period.

What’s funny is that there are those who want to believe that the trouble can be traced back to everyone’s favorite scapegoat, the president, either of the school or the country, or better yet, both.

@@ The engineering lab technician took leave (undeclared, I don’t know, but most likely, since we already have an arrangement to have a replacement when he’s not here) some days off the past few days.

Great, the teachers are already busy with finals and that the same time, the students are trying to sneak in to be able to finish project supposedly submitted days before, and there’s no custodian in the lab.

@@ I was wondering if this could be posted in the student accessible version, but has it ever happened to you that you defended someone or recommended a person for a good job – on her job – and don’t expect to be thanked for it, but later on, maybe because she thinks the honor gives her more clout, she completely screws you over on something work-related. Makes you wish you hadn’t decided in her favor that time before, and you realize that the person who was expressing reservations in being given that award was right in the first place.

You know what’s even worse: when this happens not once but TWICE, and with different people at that. What happens now to that basic belief of the inherent goodness in all persons?

Or is the moral here that it that “no one is really as open minded as they claim they are”? Maybe it’s “people should be more wary against those who claim their intentions are pure”. That’s a lesson I learned from the early version of the Super Friends, with Wendy and Marvin, not the Wonder Twins, where a lot of their troubles where caused by those who wanted more good than harm.

@@ More signs of the apocalypse: the first item above is actually a complaint from slacker co-teacher who I had the misfortune of having a meal with alone today, since there are few others in the office.

Besides, it was a “deal” set out yesterday when we again ate out for lunch, but at least with our graduate co-teacher. Today it was just the two of us, and besides making small talk asking all these sometimes inane questions about our board reviewing finishers, it would be mostly complaints about food or not getting enough benefits at work or that he can’t do his job for lack of equipment, captive audience and interviewee in his car and at the lunch table.

Session 2491 wonders what the whining will be about when the equipment arrives. Class dismissed.
