2009-01-15 1:17 PM Confusion of Similarly Named Subjects Continues Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Great, there are already thirty five people in my astronomy class (the one that doesn’t have only ten students in it, as well as a schedule of two different times on two different days, which means it will conflict with any two subjects the student might also be trying to enroll it), and there will be at least one more added. This is a computer science (or information systems) student who was in my class of computer systems organizations last term. She already attended the sessions of the computational class since the start of the term, and even though I had arranged it (I thought I had arranged it) such that the lab class would now be non-computational, since not one engineering student is enrolled there, according to the student, she was still forced by the registrar’s office to change to another class. I don’t know if that means the third lab class really will be dissolved. I guess I’ll find out tomorrow, when they’re supposed to mean. But there were already hitches yesterday (somewhat) when some of the students performing the second experiment based on the cyclic positions of the zodiac constellations had to be taught from the start because they were absent (or possibly were just in the wrong class for two meetings). So now this student is asking for notes on what she missed, as well as if make up for the lab session will be given. I’m just looking forward to probably this time next week when these class list issues will all have resolved themselves. @@ There’s such a thing as not letting go of a good thing when you see it. Today I talked to two of my co-teachers from the school of business, where E-frame (yes, we have not heard the last of him) is applying to shift after he had been denied further “studies”, if we can call what he did that, to the school of engineering. The younger one, our graduate, was hesitant to accept the application. The director, on the other hand, is willing to give him a chance for one term, on the condition that he should bring up his grade point average from hovering around the one point zero mark to – get this – two point five. It’s like asking him to walk on water. But I’m sure he’ll accept it (if they do offer it to him, that is) and even sign an agreement to the effect, because he thinks he can still talk his way to passing grades there during course card distribution just like he’s been doing with our subjects since the start. Of course, when our graduate found out that he is actually a fourth year student taking up second year subjects, and that he’s failed half of the subjects he’s enrolled in, she became adamant for “no”. Whatever happens, this is the last day for their decision because it’s already the second week of the term and our new policy is that students who have not enrolled this late would be given leave of absence instead. Session 2511 only now sees the similarity in the titles of posts from the last two days. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
