2009-03-23 9:47 PM Unexpected Assumptions By Others About Me Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Big changes coming up: the position of being full time coordinator of student affairs has been offered. It's either that, or stay part-time for a term or two, or not teach altogether for a term or two. All of the options are tempting. But the pros and cons won't be discussed out loud here, at least for now. @@ Another first breached: having to interview someone for the purpose of hiring, where the final decision rests squarely and solely on my shoulders. Sure I've done something similar before being part of the panel for teacher applicant demos, but then it's not really my only say-so. Sometimes I also think my yes or no had been overridden by the others opposing. @@ The past few days, my time has been so divided between work and work (and sleep, sometimes) that when I heard a voice from the past (twice) I didn't welcome it. First was a classmate from college who is back in the country with her family. Now in the first place, my batch mates and I didn't approve of the guy for her, since he went so far as to fake an email address from one of her exes because of how insecure he is. Her mistake was answering that email against our better judgment, although if she had not answered it, would he have come forward with his deception. Of course, the hubris on his part is having lied to her in the first place, should she really feel like the guilty party, when she then had the right to leave him altogether? Anyway, her mistake now is thinking that having tracked me down out of all of our batch mates she couldn't reach, I was supposed to go out of my way and contact all of them for her, so that we could have a reunion at her house, with only one weekend warning. Couldn't really see that happening, since I only have the contact of one former classmate, and not only didn't she have contact with the others as well, she wasn't available for the reunion. Second is the girlfriend of my cousin who is finishing their board review this week. She assumed I was free to accompany her to their boarding house this weekend. Session 2605 will just begrudgingly go. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
