More Tales of the "New" Manager

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

It's ironic when you go to a place where you're the boss and someone tells you "You can't take a shower yet! You just got out of the heated travel! Wait a few minutes."

And when they finally tell you that it's okay to take a shower and you say thank you dripping with sarcasm, they completely miss it, and even say "you're welcome".

@@ Let's go back to the boss-employee story that ran a few weeks ago. There's another epilogue.

Supposedly ex-employee already talked to some of his former co-workers about going back to work at another branch. Not surprisingly, the topic of returning to the first branch came up.

And when his former co-workers today him about his former boss' resolve to maybe take him back if the evaluations of the other branches are glowing, he even reacts with a "wow, boss even has to come up with those kinds of terms" in the same tone of voice like someone would say "the singing contestant even had whoa-oa-oa."

The clincher, there was another text to the boss, saying, "Is there really no way for me to go back. I'm really sorry. Please have the courtesy of replying to my text."

Wow, as if the boss will go, "wait, you're right it's been a month already, I should change my mind."

Or, "ah, that's the magical sixth time that you asked, that means my answer is now different."

Boss, now knowing that what he tells the other co-workers have a way of going back to former employee, (boss can't very well tell them not to talk to ex-employee) tells them that every time ex-employee asks the same thing again without respecting the boss' decision and word of honor, even acknowledging what he did wrong, or even making a false promise that he won't do it again, that it just makes the boss' estimation of ex-employee go down that much lower.

@@ On the other hand, there are employees who are just so chockfull of gratitude for being where they are, that for every boon that they receive, they even have to say, "Now I see where all my hard work and dedication pays off."

Full of yourself much?

Session 2635 is still happy. Class dismissed.
