Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. The only hitch with the stargazing lecture last night was that the student reporters did not follow my instructions. They were supposed to have finalized their slide presentations the day before, so that it would all be in one flash drive that's easy to access, plugged in once, during the lecture itself. Sadly, there were those who made last minute revisions to their presentations and had them in their laptops which they were still editing by the time the lecture started. That meant extra time moving the connection of the projector from the first laptop to the next one and back afterwards. And there was a brother and sister team who actually had their presentations in their phone, and the laptop was asking for the installation software before it could access their files. Thrown out the window, also, was my admonition for them after their first progress report, to have seventy percent pictures and thirty percent text in each slide. There was even one reporter to reverted to jokes, saying "or whatever" during her report. Sure the high school students laughed, but not out of entertainment intentionally given by the reporters. @@ It was also interesting last night to see the perspective of the office of student affairs in the high school. The teacher who was in charge of the science club was all reverential and respectful to the student affairs head. It was disconcerting because in the college, student affairs head is just the same level as the faculty. Also, that entails that, if a teacher has an activity that is approved, it is the office of student affairs that takes care of all the logistics for them, being the central office for passing reservation forms for the audio visual equipment, the transportation and the room. At least, apparently that is what the teacher told me he assumed, since he didn't process the reservations himself. In some ways it's interesting to see how differently the high school student affairs run. But given the current co-faculty that I have, I would not want our set up to change. @@ In other news, I just found out today, or was it yesterday, that the college faculty association backed out of the bingo on Sunday. Session 2741 is relaxing before Sunday. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
