2009-07-30 8:52 AM Tiny Tasks on the Table Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. So much work has piled up in the last few days of "vacation" from all of this (sweeps hands dramatically). First, I missed the talk on goal-setting and passion for work by the ZTE whistleblower, on his second visit to the campus. At least according to the guidance counselor the talk was well attended, and on the most part, it kept away from the political topics unless mentioned in passing in anecdotes, except when the students brought it up, of course, in which case it's also good because it shows that they are socially aware. Also, this time around, instead of inviting whole Grade 11 classes to attend, there were only seats reserved for their Student Council. @@ Today, finally, I will have the meeting with the physical facilities head regarding the concessionaires and possibly changing the rules on how they will operate in campus for fewer headaches in implementation. @@ The school directors also want a meeting about the academic performance of the student leaders. The director for engineering, where there are at least four members of the student council in his classes, and at least three more as presidents of the student organizations, and not doing too well. If they do use their activities as their excuse for not attending classes, then that was never endorsed. But if they are using the time outside of classes to work on activities and not studying, that can be corrected. We still have to tell them that first and foremost they are students and leaders second. So if their grade point average dips or they fail even one subject, they will be asked to step down from position. The director for the school of engineering in fact wants official forms. Are these to be signed by the students? Will there be forms passed on to the teachers of each subject and can be returned to the Office of Student Affairs if they think the students are not taking their classes seriously enough? @@ Also, there's a meeting called about the number of days that outside sellers are allowed inside the campus. I thought before that it was fifteen days total for the school year, or five days (one week) per term. I also thought this was for the college, with a separate agreement for the grade school and high school. Apparently though, according to the dean from their latest operations council meeting, this is fifteen days for the whole student body. I don't know if this is because one or more of the regular concessionaires complained of the last activity. Session 2747 hopes to finish all of these in a snap, not much preparation needed. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
