Mood: Being Prodded from Behind Read/Post Comments (0) |

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Pet peeve of the last duration: people who are so uptight about being late that they arrive at the meeting place hours ahead of the supposed meeting time, and then they drag you along with them in the waiting. I know I already have a tendency to be early to appointments, and this is something that riles even me. This particular person wants to get off the bus and hails it to stop long before the gate of the building that is the destination, necessitating a longer walk than, well, is necessary. Every. Single. Time. I gave in to his request to already leave the office before the shuttle arrives, only to find out by my watch that it is actually still forty minutes until the shuttle leaves, when typically, only twenty minutes lead time is needed. I am glad that this person did not get influenced by former slacker co-teacher in terms of procrastination, but it is still too much. Anyway, I will just chalk it up to experience and resist being too early next time there is an invitation to leave the office already. @@ Earlier I had the meeting with the student council representative and the presidents of the three socio-civic organizations about voter education and the grade school and high school’s environmental month. For the first, I said that we will concentrate on getting those eligible to register until October 31. After that, we can go into the merits of each candidate, and safeguards against possible cheating. For this I would like to commend one of the presidents for asking to have a representative of the commission of elections over so that not all the propaganda will be seemingly against the government initiatives. It is also good that there are already other district offices that have led initiatives on this, including possibly having the ZTE-NBN whistle blower in campus again (for the third time) to talk on the automation this time, which is his technical expertise after all, not about bribery and corruption. We will also be using the very own statistics of the college students, in that according to the survey done by the student council during course card distribution, only 20% of those eligible have registered. It may take 40 minutes average to complete the process, but going through that will show everyone that we are not completely apathetic. @@ As for the environment month, there are two petitions to be made. First is for the no Styrofoam movement in the cafeterias. Second is for the possibility of having the drinks of the customers in reusable tumblers, to reduce plastic cups. I am not sure yet about the plastic bottle artwork contest; we will discuss that in the next meeting next week. Session 2795 also brought up the plans for the eco camp of which we are the main organizers if not the host for next school year, and where it seems my loathing for the institute in the environment is well known. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
