Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. I just had to deal with two organizations who, two weeks before the institutional (as in campus-wide) culmination of Teachers' Month, said that they couldn't do the presentations for this event. The first was the documentation society. They said that they had more preparations to do for the communication arts week. Well, thanks for the belated heads up. At least I was already prepared for this and I have already sent out feelers for another budding filmmaker to take the reigns, and will show up this upstart to the digital arts club for what it really is. Second was the theater group. They said they couldn't come up with scripts for their thank you poems, and that they will be having a production later this term (same excuse of "our plans come before yours"). Besides, they said that the poems on the internet are copyrighted, and they could not get permission to perform them. I told them about my time in the theater (which is actually not as long or as glamorous as it sounds, though I wish it wasn't so) and that permission is only needed if one is going to profit on the use of copyrighted material. But if it's for a charitable cause, like showing appreciation to the teachers, and there's no money involved, then it's alright. So I think they will be performing. I just have to follow up on it next week. Why pass up a chance to be on stage anyway right? I also got a bit irritated with the student council for having a post-it wall of their own between the third floor and the fourth floor (at the landing) when there were already two boards at the central lobby made by the high school student council (and very well-made at that, looking like an instant messenger). I guess they have not yet embraced the concept of collaboration, that they are still in the kindergarten stage of wanting to do things on their own, like tying their shoelaces or dressing themselves (although some of them aren't doing a good job on that either, and get written up for dress code violations). @@ I'm in the student center right now, and there are actually two groups of students here who are watching different movies on their laptops with the sound on full: "Bedtime Stories" and "Austin Powers". I don't know if there will ever be a time when watching movies will be banned here. Maybe during midterms and finals weeks and there are two many students cramming who don't want to be disturbed. I know that last finals, there was one guy who actually brought the amplifier for his electric guitar here, and was told to stop. Actually it's the same freshman that I mentioned before who wanted to perform at the Music organization launching. I will try as much as possible to write something and post it for tomorrow. I know it will not be difficult to post since I'll be hanging out at a place that has an internet connection. It's just that I may not have time to write. So I'll see if I can find time to write tonight then bring it in a flash drive to post tomorrow. Session 2813 isn't much affected by the rants above. Class dismissed.
