2010-03-03 2:10 PM Slow News Day Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Curiously, there seems to be a 200% jump in hits for the post yesterday in the student accessible version, compared to the previous days. I have no idea why this is. Okay, maybe there is a hint; after all, I think I did mention my blog in the faculty association meeting yesterday. @@ Interestingly, people in the offices are getting more used to sending their documents as read only files. Has there been a rash of editing and resending of files lately, festering deception and confusion? @@ Okay, the head of the election commission just informed me that once again, there will be empty slots in the list of candidates for the student council elections this year. Now, I could go ahead and make a decision based on this meager information, just like I have in the previous years, or, now that I have a team, take advantage of it and ask their opinion first. @@ It is election season once again, and there are those taking advantage of the send-to-all buttons on their email providers to throw dirt at the candidates they do not like. Even if there is an investigation as to the source of these potentially false claims, it will most likely lead to a false name. And even though everyone can exercise their right and stop these unverified missives as soon as they receive them, if there is something that comes out against all candidates, then they will send out all except the one against the horse they favor. Or, if they claim to be truly objective, they will still send to all and let them decide for themselves. Anyway, that is just a precursor to what I really wanted to talk about. So there are these common emails going around about the purported illegal activities of one candidate. What is interesting is that it has been forwarded to at least two different mailing lists that I belong to. In one, there was general questioning and research (before it was revealed to be a hoax) trying to find out if it was true. In the other, there were outright verbal jabs between two camps on more and more outrageous levels of bizarre logic and accusation as to whether they are right or wrong. I will name the two groups in order to preserve the group from further judgment, but if you think one of them is a group of teachers and the other is not, well you might be surprised. Session 2987 will leave it at that. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
