Mood: Set Myself Up For That Read/Post Comments (0) |

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Maybe it was part of the expectation that we all had, but as usual there were complaints again about this group of retreat goers, which makes it the third year in a row. As I said in the student accessible version, our sleeping area was the housing below the refectory. What I did not mention there was that it was two in a room, and worse, they shared the floor with the two facilitators from the other school at the place with us. Another caveat was that for the first night, Sir Mel was not there, have an early Saturday religion class. Saturday describes the class though, not the religion, although that is something interesting to think about. Anyway, so today I received comments from the other facilitator about the behavior of our students. He said they were banging doors all the time, were very boisterous (I am very interested in how that word seems to have for its root word the word boys) playing their radio loud, and in confirmation with the other facilitator, actually smoking inside the building. Too bad they could not identify who it was. That would have been another retreat borne disciplinary record. According to our facilitator, who may have heard it third hand from the sisters, there were also suspicions of drinking alcohol, although there was no evidence of that. What I am sure of is that next school year the head of the Mission Office is going to insist on bag inspections before getting on the vehicle even if the last offense was two years ago. The second incident was my fault. We were supposed to have the first afternoon session at 3pm. Sir Mel arrived at 2pm from the end of his 1pm class. I had set my alarm for 245pm. But when my alarm sounded, my body felt too heavy for me to get out of bed, until 4pm By that time, it was already snack time, and it was only afterwards that I found out they got a tongue-lashing from the facilitator again, for getting complete at 330pm instead of 3pm. They blamed it on me; they said they were waiting for my bell. The facilitator said they were already told what time we would resume, so why would they rely on the bell, which would tell them they are already late. Session 2993 knows the students have to learn to be independent at some point. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
