Mood: Overly Critical Read/Post Comments (0) |
2010-03-15 5:02 PM Has Run Out of Benefit of the Doubt Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. As expected, the students had an evaluation session where faced with the criticisms of one person (just voiced from the others who could not be present) they had stopped being objective, became defensive and ended up patting each other on the back for a job well done. But what they did not realize was that in their candidness, all the other problems of their lack of planning came out. Because the car show participants were the ones who paid the most, they were the ones who demanded the most as well, which was really not that kind of attitude we wanted to show the students. Or maybe it was, that if you are the kind of person that wants to show off what you can do with your money in the first place, maybe it is not the kind of person you want to be. The awards given to the car show participants were not the kind that, as they claimed, mirrored the elections. There was even an award for most handsome driver, best girlfriend, and best couple. A lot of people involved agreed that smoking was rampant. I doubt if next time the students would be willing to pay for more security personnel to handle this for them. The advocacy they had, about the presidential candidates (was it to inform the public about them or just to encourage people to their right to vote?) was ineffective, and off to one side. Even the president of the student council admitted that from her past experience she thought that the theme of nationalism in the previous band fest was too traditional, which goes to show that they just kept that in to keep the administrators satisfied, when they did not care for it at all, or at least she did not, which showed anyway. What is funny is that in one breath they were proud of themselves for bringing to the school something new. At the same time they were already hinting at doing the same thing again next year. In fact, having big name bands with the amateur players is not new, but was already done last year. Why do I think they did not want to move the concert to the covered court? Because it would move it away from the car show, and it would be very obvious that it did not attract the supposedly big crowd that they wanted in the first place, at least the kind the school wants. Their claim that the administrators were not to be found was not true, as attested by the coordinator or the sports office, was just waiting for their signal to use the covered courts. Session 3007 likes work doubling as public expression. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
