Mood: Planning Way Ahead Read/Post Comments (0) |
2010-03-20 12:21 AM Every Eventuality Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Just to round out the story of the post yesterday, in the morning I did receive a text message from the president of the student council saying that they will not push through with the concert today. Thank goodness more critical heads prevailed. That they even considered it just showed how poorly they assessed the situation and their own skills, inflated as it was. Now the only question is whether or not they will be able to get the guard of the dean down in allowing an event during the sacred activity ban of the thirteenth week of classes. I hope that the dean sees that these students see every concession she makes as the benchmark they will use for pushing the limits the next time around, and disregard her (or claim that they were not privy to that condition) if she says it will only be this once. It really should be clear to them at the start of the school year that everything will be back to ground zero. By that I mean it will be like starting from scratch and they cannot look at the very chaotic occurrences of this school year as any kind of comparison stick. There really must be something I could do to stop the student council from having their own camp with the previous officers, where false expectations are passed on and supposedly sneaky ways to get around the already lax rules put up by the school. Or that their camp should go first, because if they hold their passing of the torch ceremony after the leadership camp that we are holding, the new officers will be able to tell them all the new rules that will be implemented and they will try to find ways around them. I also have to note here that even though I know I will still be part of the leadership camp, technically my contract is really until the fifteenth of May, which means that this is still part of my job. But what happens after that, the formation of the general plan of action, and maybe the freshman orientation, could be passed on to somebody else already. Only my meeting with the brother president will tell, after I had written a letter of wanting to stay on for the dean that she told me should be addressed to the human resources head, to which she also passed her evaluation of my performance so far. Either way, just like last school year, it is still up to them, despite that supposed proactive move on their part, and that I am prepared for either eventuality, renewed or not. But I do know that if I end up being offered a part time job instead, I will be declining, because I would not want to see the school declining as well in my diminished capacity. Just like my not wanting to be here for the event that I was opposed to since the start. Session 3017 there is only so much face slaps a human can take. Class dismissed.
