2003-09-03 10:33 PM Little Cardboard Boxes Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Happy Read/Post Comments (0) Days one and two of my TorCon report have been posted in the previous two entries. The rest will follow as soon as I've had a chance to clean up my notes a bit.
Had a bit of good news at work yesterday: the other potential candidate for the open position in my department turned out to be not what my boss wanted for the job. So, it looks like I've got the job, barring unforeseen circumstances. Given all the ups and downs of the process so far, I won't be celebrating until I have an offer in writing, but I am happy. Got a bit of a surprise when I arrived at work today. They've been renovating our building, which means that every couple of weeks they move a batch of employees out of their cubicles into temporary cubicle space, put in new carpet and new cubicles, and then move the employees back and move a new bunch up to temporary space. Our department was told it would move on the 15th. And then they showed up and told us we had to move today. It wasn't particularly a big deal for me: I haven't really had time to accumulate much cruft. I threw out some stuff I didn't need anymore, packed my reference books and files into three boxes, carried my computer to my temporary desk upstairs, had lunch, and got back to work on my manual. For my boss, who's been in the same cubicle for years, moving on short notice was considerably more involved. The temporary cubicles have no filing cabinets, no desk drawers, and most tragically, NO BOOKSHELVES. We are dismayed. But we won't be there for very long. I hope.
