2004-02-09 10:50 PM Marlinspike Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: wordy Read/Post Comments (0) Is there a word for the delight caused by encountering a real life instance of something one had previously only encountered as a word in the dictionary? A coworker showed me a marlinspike today. I had known that it was a sharp metal spike used by sailors in unpicking knots and splicing rope, but I didn't know what one looked like.
