I love this: Aragorn and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. (Found via Shmuel)

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day was one of my favorite books when I was a kid, to the point that "I think I'll move to Australia" is still something of a family catchphrase.

Daniel's never read Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Or The Red Balloon. Or any number of my other favorite children's picture books. He has a whole different set of fondly remembered early childhood books. For some reason, once we got to YA novels and adult books, our reading habits were much more closely aligned.

Not entirely aligned. Once in a while, in a fit of insanity, I engage in a futile attempt to get Daniel to read Little Women. It's So Not Happening. Though I've come close to selling it by pitching it as offering deep insight into the teenage female psyche.

(Funnily enough, the most common comment from Daniel's family members on his recent short story, "Why I am Not Gorilla Girl", is, "How do you know so much about 13 year-old girls?" Apparently, 13 year-old girls are considerably weirder and more wondrous than uplifted sentient gorillas.)

Anyway, today I am not having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. I am having a good day, and soon I will go have something yummy for dinner with Daniel, and then probably watch a couple of episodes of CSI.
