This felt very futuristic. Kind of like the first time I bought a song from iTunes.
Overall, I'd say it was a successful experiment. I came home from work, discovered that a pile of groceries had magically appeared in my kitchen, and made chicken breasts in tarragon-caper sauce and couscous. And a nice strong cup of coffee with a splash of chocolate cream liqueur for dessert. Yum. I'm not certain how frequently I'll make use of this service - there's a charge for delivery, and with the Safeway website being a little bit slow and clunky, I'm not sure it's that much of a time savings over a trip to the grocery store. On the other hand, filling up the shopping cart online can be done in little moments of free time here and there over the course of getting other things done. And I could see it being really useful for bulk orders of non-perishable or semi-perishable staples. Plus, there's nothing quite like coming home from a hard day's tech writing to find that the ingredients for chicken in tarragon-caper sauce have magically appeared in one's fridge.
