Last night we did the seder, the timeless ritual in which we recount our ancient liberation from bondage in Egypt, eat lots of strange yet tasty foods that we don't normally eat at any other time of the year, and then confront an unfathomably large pile of dirty dishes.
The dirty dishes clearly symbolize the fact that even when the Israelites came out of the land of bondage, they weren't done. Not by a long shot. (Actually, Ross (my father-in-law, for those keeping score at home) mostly did the dishes. Us kids dried and put away.) It was great fun, as always. (When you ask Jews about the seder, most of them will either say that they hate doing it because you have to sit around talking for ages before you get to eat, or they will say that they love it, because you get to sit around talking for ages before you get to eat. Clearly I fall in the latter camp.) Anyway, I probably have more to say, but I think I need coffee first. Sooooo sleepy....Talk to you later.
