2006-04-30 5:35 PM Pre-Beltaine Belting Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Happy Read/Post Comments (3) I went to the mall yesterday to try to buy a new pair of jeans. I've shrunk my waist size enough that my largest size pants, which up until recently I could wear in a "I'm going for the baggy look" kind of way, are now really in the "I'm going for a wardrobe accident" category. And all of my belts are too big as well, which doesn't help matters.
So, I went to the mall. I went to the Levi's store first. The Levi's store perplexed me, because the sections were labelled thus: Men, Juniors, Missy, and Kids. I'm not a man, nor a junior, nor a kid. I sure don't feel like a "missy". I took a cursory look around the Missy section, and didn't see anything that looked like my size. So, I tried on a few pairs from the men's section, and discovered that I can't really buy men's pants anymore - men's jeans that fit in the waist are too tight across the hips and too baggy in the thigh. Wow, I really am a girl. I then made a brief trip to Old Navy. I don't know what it is about Old Navy, but shopping there always gives me a headache. I don't know if it's because of the way the store is organized (i.e. not according to any perceptible pattern that I can determine), or because their clothes are designed for teenage mallrats, or because the fitting room attendants always try to sell me an Old Navy credit card, but I've decided that I'm done with Old Navy. So, no jeans. The trip was not a total bust, however, because I did get two very nicely fitting belts at the Levi's store. One of which is presently holding up my baggiest pair of jeans (the better fitting ones are in the wash), which is not going to win me any fashion points, but will keep me from mooning anyone when I pop out to the grocery store to get stuff for dinner. I went ahead and did what I probably should have done in the first place. I ordered some jeans from Land's End. Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
