Time for me to get on my thesis. I have all my poems on a hard drive, and hard copy, so it is really just a matter of organization. I really feel overwhelmed, but in a nice way. I am also keeping my fingers crossed regarding a MFA program. I got a call from the director and pending a critical paper, I should get in. But I am keeping my fingers crossed. I am no Harold Bloom. I may slam tomorrow, and on Friday I am reading at the graduate Symposium. Been reading lots of Bukowski this week. Also checked out some Jack Spicer. Also I found out that a lot of other poets use the pun Lowku to describe intentionally low brow humor in a haiku. I also will deviate from the 5-7-5 format as well. About the Oscars. I was pleased for the most part. I have not seen Training Day or Monster's Ball, But both Berry and Denzel are great actors. It was cool for Ron Howard to get one or two. I wish they had nominated Hackman and Anderson for Royal Tennenbaums, but comedies are seldom appreciated. American Beauty and Forrest Gump are exceptions to that though. Seeing Woody Allen finally come to the Oscars was a treat. They will probably give him the lifetime award in a few years. They will wait until he's elderly though, to get back at him for snubbing the Oscars all those years. Sidney Potier is awesome. To Sir, With Love made me want to be a teacher, it also made me a fan of the Lulu song. All for now!@ |
