Well, I got another draft in. Hopefully it will be approved tomorrow. My family is coming up to see me graduate. I am also giving 2 readings this weekend along with other graduating Masters students. My friend Christopher Reitmeir passed thru these last few days. He is headed off to New York, then Spain for the summer. We were both in poetry classes with Keelan, including one together. He got into the famous Iowa Writer's Workshop but chose not to go. Funny, I would almost die to go there. Probably not much to do there, but it would be fun to see how my poetry would change there. Here Simmerman pulled me to be more serious and Anderson urged me to be more myself and be funny. Out of that dual tidal force and the slams and my own reading of poets I have progressed from a few years ago. I have a few poems from 1999 that I still like. Almost everything from ten years ago feels juvenile. Well. I guess I will sign off. I need some sleep. Well, Actually I am doing Laundry so I will have to wait another 30 minutes or so. |
