Mood:
not a political entry, just a cool title

So, today I went to a "slam" at the Clark County Library on Flamingo. It wasn't a real slam, but it was a nice laid back no pressure affair. I didn't know anyone there and when I got up to read I didn't slam my poem. I just kinda read it. I did "Death"
I was afraid I might offend someone if I did "Mac the Nugget" or something, but it turns out it is a non censored event and several poets had a few cuss words. A few really good poets. Potential slammers. Not that one has to slam to prove anything. Anyhow... I can't wait for the Las Vegas slam season to start up. I guess... I haven't slammed since the Nerd slam at Nationals, and I am kind of Jonesing for it.

Last night I watched "Pinero." I usually don't like to watch movies about poets who had such tragic lives, but since this was the co-founder of the Nuyorican, I felt that I had to sit through it. Actually I paused several times. It's good... it's just that... sad. Whereas Slamnation or Dead Poets Society or Il Postino is uplifting.

I am almost done with my new application process. I havn't heard back from U-Dub or Long Beach... so I assume they are NAY.
So I applied in an achingly complex slow process to, get ready:
U of Alaska Anchorage
U of Alaska Fairbanks
Antioch University
Vermont College
Sarah Lawrence
Ohio State
Minnesota
West Virginia
Northern Michigan
Arizona (again)
U of Hawaii
U of Denver
Wisconsin- Milwaukee
Misourri
Kansas
and Florida State.

that is 16 universities. 10 are MFA and 6 are PhD degrees. Well... It is about out of my control now.

2 reasons to pursue a degree.
One- possibility of job security greater with terminal degree
two- Can find more ways to improve my poetry.
All other reasons are related to these first two.

Well... I have to get back to my teaching stuff... I have to prepare for tomorrow's classes.
