So I am listening to Beau now. Beau can be looked at at www.beausia.com It is well produced with lots of beats and beeps in the background. The focus is more on the musicality than the humor. Which is cool... There is plenty of footage of Beau's delivery straight up... So tonight I went to the open mic at the Espresso Roma... it was pretty cool. I did Death... not sure if it is a slam poem... will try it some day tho. Lots of cool poets in Las Vegas... But we don't have a regular venue that loves slam... so no weekly or monthly slam yet, although Karen is working on it. Typical problems for slam scenes... getting a venue and maintaining it. This Friday we got two really cool UNLV MFA's Zach and Merideth with Rachel Kann reading at Jitters. That might make sense as a slam venue if Roma doesn't pan out. Zach and Merideth frequently attend open mikes as well as the academic readings, and Rachel was on the Long Beach Team that made the Semis at Nats and came in ultimately within the top ten teams in the nation. Well, I get to sleep in tomorrow. Scratch that... I have to go to a benefits orientation at the Uni. I have lots of fun stuff to work on tomorrow. Got to proofread a chapter from my mom's book. (RENT) Kidding. Also I got to get a lesson planned for the students for Wednesday. I watched "Pinero" the other day... and just rented "Pollock" and the recent "Hamlet" with Ethan Hawke... I think it is co-titled "Claudius Bites" I better sign off for now before I make another bad pun. |
