I need to have detailed lesson plans. A set schedule for every day for every given class.

something like

1/31

1pm Roll Call
1:05 In Class Writing
1:20 Group Activity
1:30 Class Discussion
1:45 Quizlet

There also needs to be no tardiness allowed. If student is late, they are marked absent. If they come in after I have taken roll, they are marked absent.

However, there needs to be a fair make up policy. I go to poetry readings all the time. So I could make them go to poetry readings. They'd have to stay for the whole reading to make up one class absent. No more than five make ups allowed.

2. Extra credit of ten points is given for a 3 page paper responding to the reading (content, delivery, etc). Up to five of these are possible (5% of total course grade)

THe problem is, I need to arrange a system that is simple and organized. I can't be carrying around tons of papers all the time.

So an alternative is
a zero tolerance late policy.

No Extra Credit

10- Mid Term Exam
10- Final Exam
10 Paper 1
20 Paper 2
20 Paper 3
30 Paper 4

I like this idea although it would require more work on my part

Quizzes 10
(Daily)
In Class Writing ( daily)10
Paper 1 10
paper 2 10
paper 3 10
mid term 10
final 10
Final Paper 20
Class Participation 10

I wouldn't mark people tardy, but they'd miss quizzes.

The thing is, I would have to assign quizzes early in the class. They'd have to be pop quizzes.

I'd give them mostly when someone isn't there after taking roll.

0-5 Roll
5-10 Quiz: 1 or two true/false or short answer questions.
10-25 Write about your mother, father or significant other, someone you love and admire.
25-40 get in groups, share the writing. What do you hear other people describe that stands out, what could they describe more of
40: What details stand out most.

IN CLASS WRITING: Some assigments will directly relate to your papers, while others may come out of left field. Relax. These little projects are designed to enhance our writing style, techniques, and to correct grammatical and punctuation mistakes that we make off the bat. Mostly, they are fun. We will do them every day. Some will be questions like, Do you believe Las Vegas is America's microcosm? Other times you might get told to argue about the weather.

Sometimes the instructions will be clear, other times, vague as a dolphin in a cave.
