I met someone today who moved here to work from a pretty small country on the other side of the globe. Their sum total of time in the US previous had been about 3 weeks. They don't have US ids, or a bank account yet, or an apartment, and I don't even know how many, if any, people they know here.

I can't imagine the bravery that takes to do. I certainly don't have it myself. To move to another continent entirely, for at least a year, without things being all set up in advance? I couldn't handle that kind of uncertainty.

My main hope is that during the stay, they have a good experience and that they come away with positive impressions of their time spent here. And that they get to see some of America outside the office.
