I saw this plate frame on the way to work:

"Life is like a movie...write your own script"

OK, so in the fact that millions of dollars are spent so that a group of people with conflicting ideas can create something of dubious value that you're amazed even was accomplished at all, yes life is like a movie.

However, you're not in charge of a movie. Heck, seemingly at times, no one is in charge. Certainly not the writer.

"Life is like a movie...be the producer, or at least be over the line talent" would be more appropriate.

"Life is like a movie you can be in...don't sit back and watch" maybe.
