2008 Books #45 Thursday's Child

Sonya Hartnett is a multiple award-winning Australian writer famous for her YA.

So I thought I should read something of hers.

Based on Amazon reviews, I thought the book for me should be Thursday's Child.

Damn. She's good. I see why she's multiple award winning.

It's no mean thing to create a world of fully realized characters, including adults and their self-serving motives and a half-feral brother who disappeared into the earth at age five to dig tunnels under the whole town, and the aftermath of a possible rape, all the while maintaining perfectly the POV of a seven year old child.

Nicely done. Recommended.
