Over the past week or 10 days the new job has turned dreadfully dull. The problem is that they have a number of web pages designed in Word or Acrobat that they generated from material used for a printed catalog.

Trying to cram the same stuff onto the web never works well, but since I was not around to help them do otherwise, I'm stuck putting it into HTML. Talk about boring!

My role is supposed to be helping develop new processes to avoid this problem in the first place, but because there are some deadlines to get the material on the web, I've got to do it the old-fashioned, manually, inappropriate way for now. No time to work on the ideal way under these circumstances.

My plans include developing a database-driven web site that offers many new, more efficient ways of doing things, plus new customer-oriented features. I hope to have time to implement it sooner rather than later!
