I'm young and not successful
but at least I'm happy.

It's satisfying to see
how tan my arms have become
from the days riding in the sun
and how when I lift my arms up
my biceps emerge
a solid, rounding shape,
that I have never known before
and is a surprise to those
when they see me heft.

My body has become strong and lean
a cycling machine
but not a fitness queen
a strength which is for myself
and no one else.

What I've found
with the storms finally having passed
is me.
It a person
whom I intend to nurture
and love
as I have not for a long time.

I am young
and not successful
but I am still here
and I am happy.
