Trucking through plot holes

Well it's Wednesday and I still haven't finished editing Heavy Rains (formerly The Bunyip). I've got up to the real fiddly stuff on the editing to-do list, which isn't so bad (it's mainly grunt work), but one of the items has me stalled - I've got to fix a rather large plot hole!

So what do I do now? I'm going to hammer away at it some more tonight and at least try and get some of the items done. Carrie was a big help with getting me thinking through this plot hole, but the fix still has flaws of its own. I'm probably being a perfectionist, but I would like to get this plot problem fixed, since it tends to jar if you think about the story for more than 30 seconds.

Meanwhile I've done zip in the way of writing lately, which is why my word count tally is conspicuously absent :) I really need to start working on other things when I'm stalled during editing. Writing something new while editing one or more other stories seemed to work well on previous occasions, so why aren't I doing that now???

It always surprises me when I read some other writers blogs on Journalscape and I see people casually talking about editing several stories over the course of a day. Here I am, struggling to get one story edited over several days! On the other hand, there are a lot of variables - story length, number of changes, experience and so forth, so it's a bit hard to compare. That said, I have edited stuff before in a matter of hours, so I know it is possible for me :) Onward!
