Pfft! I guess I was a tad optimistic when I thought I could get some writing done today. I'd forgotten how much of a time-sink new computers can be - loading all the apps, configuring drivers, downloading patches, etc. I was also seduced by the silky smooth framerates I was getting in all my old games and goggling at the graphics demos that came with the video card.

I also gave the No Limits Rollercoaster simulation a try and the thing absolutely screams on this system -- at maximum detail, too. It's very realistic, right down to the clicking of the chains and the sound of the wind and motion of the cars as they whiz down the track. Well worth checking out if you've got a fast enough PC!

Today I finished reading the October 2003 issue of Realms of Fantasy. This was the first issue of my subscription and on the whole I'm quite impressed. My favourite stories this issue were Michael Bishop's The Door Gunner (a dark Vietnam tale with a zombie G.I.), Runesmith by Harlan Ellison and Theodore Sturgeon (a reprint of a classic), and Michael Swanwick's Deep in the Woods of Grammarie (seven funny and twisted fairytales). I'm looking forward to seeing how the next few issues grab me :)

Will I get any writing done tomorrow? Stay tuned for the next exciting (?) instalment to find out...

What I'm Reading:
Four Seasons in One Day by Jason Erik Lundberg and Janet Jia-Ee Chui
Flytrap, Issue 1 (November 2003)
