In yesterday's entry I whined about not having worked on any of the new stories I said I'd try to write in November. Today I made a start writing some background material for a humorous story idea I just plucked out of the ideas file. It has absolutely no direction, but I was happy I at least got some words (600 of 'em) down on the virtual page. I reckon I'll keep on sifting through the ideas and writing small chunks, and at the same time continue brainstorming new ideas. Who knows, maybe something will leap out at me?

Thanks to the arrival of Rollercoaster Tycoon (and the two expansions) yesterday, I've spent quite a bit of time on that these past few days. I already had the original game and an add-on, but I soon learned that those versions (the UK editions) do not have any patches available for XP! (that I could find, anyway) I ended up buying the US edition for a decent price and it seems to work just fine on XP with no patches necessary.

A fine coffee table book came from Abebooks today and it looks like I got a bargain. This one is another source I'm using for story research and it looks like it has pretty much everything I need. It also references the other book I have on the subject and has about the same coverage (if not more), so I didn't really need the first one. Oh well. I'm sure there's some material that each one covers exclusively.

Tonight we're going to the Matchbox 20 concert near here, so it should be an enjoyable evening. Depending on what time it finishes, I may even have a little writing time when we get back :)
