This weekend was rather relaxing. There were quite a few movies we wanted to watch on cable this weekend, so we ended up with square eyes by the end of it. It was nice and summery outdoors (around 89F!), but very windy, so we spent most of the weekend indoors. On Sunday we did some shopping and went out to dinner. All in all, it was an enjoyable weekend!

Carrie's car got fixed on Friday, so now she's back on the road and I can use the other car again! We still have a couple of other things to worry about, but things have calmed down now (touch wood).

I chatted with a few recruiters last week, and finally found some jobs I was qualified for on the job boards, which was nice. In addition to looking for work in Illinois and Michigan, I've decided to start looking in Ohio, too. There seem to be about the same number of jobs advertised as in Michigan, although there are still twice as many here in Illinois. If we have to move states, we'd prefer to move closer to Carrie's parents in Michigan. There are also some technicalities to worry about, so moving to another state isn't as straightforward as it would otherwise be.

As for the movies, we watched The French Connection (loved it!), Flight of the Phoenix (a decent Jimmy Stewart movie), John Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness (this was weird, but entertaining), and the Japanese horror movie, Spiral (bizarre imagery, but ultimately underwhelming). There's certainly a lot of good stuff on the extra channels we picked up when we got cable Internet!

Just when it looked like I wasn't going to meet my self-imposed story per week deadline, I wrote a flash fiction piece on Saturday! This was inspired by one of the crit group "Weekly Words", which was 'regret'. I'm not sure whether I'll submit this piece or not, but it was certainly nice to write something!

I've also kept busy this past week writing critiques and doing some of the writing exercises Joseph has been posting. They're like workouts for the brain :)

This week I hope to finish the short story I started last week, and I should get around to working on the collab story, too. I certainly won't have any excuses for not being busy this week!
