They're a little expensive (not to mention some volumes being scarce) and I was hoping to find some on ebay or elsewhere. It'd be great if the SFBC would reprint these, but I can't see that happening anytime soon. Meanwhile I decided to poke around on the ISFDB search-engine to see what stories I already have in my mag collection. This is what I came up with: Astounding Science Fiction Galaxy F&SF Dangerous Visions If there are any Sturgeon fans reading this, where do you think I should start with the list above? Are there any stories that I should skip? Hopefully the older mags are still holding up okay and won't crumble to dust when I try reading them :) I've still got a long way to go before I catch up on a lot of classic SF, including most of Sturgeon's output. There's such a huge volume of great SF that it's difficult to find time to read the old stuff while keeping up with all the new stuff. So far I think the only Sturgeon I've read was a reprint of Runesmith in the October 2003 issue of Realms of Fantasy, a story which he co-wrote with Harlan Ellison (there's another writer whose work I need to get to sooner or later). In addition to Sturgeon's short stories, I've heard he's written some good novels, including More than Human (based on his short, Baby is Three). What are some of the other notable Sturgeon novels every SF reader should check out? Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
