I've been meaning to pick up the short story collections of Theodore Sturgeon in hardcover, but haven't thus far for one reason or another. They're a little expensive (not to mention some volumes being scarce) and I was hoping to find some on ebay or elsewhere. It'd be great if the SFBC would reprint these, but I can't see that happening anytime soon.

Meanwhile I decided to poke around on the ISFDB search-engine to see what stories I already have in my mag collection. This is what I came up with:

Astounding Science Fiction
November 1944 - Killdozer!
February 1948 - There is No Defense
October 1948 - Unite and Conquer
November 1948 - The Love of Heaven
November 1949 - What Dead Men Tell

Galaxy
January 1951 - Rule of Three
September 1956 - The Other Man
Jan/Feb 1973 - Case and the Dreamer
October 1973 - Agnes, Accent and Access

F&SF
November 1953 - The Silken-Swift
August 1956 - Fear is a Business
December 1956 - And Now the News... (also Oct'79)
October 1974 - Blue Butter
October 1983 - Not An Affair
Oct/Nov 1999 - New York Vignette

Dangerous Visions
If All Men Were Brothers, Would You Let One Marry Your Sister?

If there are any Sturgeon fans reading this, where do you think I should start with the list above? Are there any stories that I should skip?

Hopefully the older mags are still holding up okay and won't crumble to dust when I try reading them :)

I've still got a long way to go before I catch up on a lot of classic SF, including most of Sturgeon's output. There's such a huge volume of great SF that it's difficult to find time to read the old stuff while keeping up with all the new stuff. So far I think the only Sturgeon I've read was a reprint of Runesmith in the October 2003 issue of Realms of Fantasy, a story which he co-wrote with Harlan Ellison (there's another writer whose work I need to get to sooner or later).

In addition to Sturgeon's short stories, I've heard he's written some good novels, including More than Human (based on his short, Baby is Three). What are some of the other notable Sturgeon novels every SF reader should check out?
