Tires and stuff

It was a tiring day! I spent most of today reworking my resume, in the hope that the changes will spark at least some interest from employers. I haven't updated it in awhile, but I thought it was time for a change :)

Carrie's car got a flat tire (it was a tiring day, remember) at some point on the drive home tonight, but luckily she reached home before she noticed! We took the other car down the street to the service station to pump up the spare, then drove back and changed the tire. When I changed it, I found a nice, big screw embedded in there. It would've been nice if there wasn't rain and a thunderstorm in progress, however.

I tellya, if yet another thing hadn't gone wrong with the car (it has been quite costly lately), there'd be some other inconvenient or expensive hassle causing undue stress. I reckon there might be some truth to that resistentialism thing after all...

Yesterday I finally finished reading the Michael Marshall Smith story collection, More Tomorrow and Other Stories. I was quite impressed, overall. I'll post more about it in another entry if I have time this week.

I submitted two stories yesterday, bringing the number of stories doing the rounds to 5. This is a personal record! I also noticed that I've surpassed my total number of submissions (14) for 2003, and equalled the number of rejections. I have a feeling the totals are going to be several orders of magnitude higher by the end of the year, but I still need to work hard if I want to improve the anemic word count compared with last year.

For the remainder of this week, I'll be focused on job stuff and writing a couple of critiques for the crit group.

Yesterday I also did some editing on one of my critiqued stories, and I'd like to send it out again ASAP but that depends on how much time the job hunting gobbles up this week. I guess I'll just have to play it by ear.

2004 Stats:

2004 Word count:13,422
Stories written:6
Total submissions:15
Total acceptances:0
Total rejections:12
Waiting for response:5
Books read:7
Fiction Mags/Chapbooks read:11
